ADS Release 4.5 Now Available

Latest release delivers new meshing capabilities and productivity improvements to streamline setup, execution and post-processing

PLEASANTON, Calif. - November 17, 2011 - AeroDynamic Solutions, Inc. (ADS) today announced the availability of ADS 4.5, a major update to its turbomachinery CFD solution suite.

In addition to bug fixes, ADS 4.5 features several new capabilities, including:

  • Improved propeller and wind turbine meshing support.  ADS 4.5 includes the ability to mesh highly pitched airfoils such as propellers and wind turbines with Code Wand.
  • Support for variable fillets.  Release 4.5 incudes the ability to introduce variable-sized fillets to airfoil/endwall junctions. An additional option allows variable fillets to be applied to square trailing edge configurations such as radial turbines and centrifugal compressors.
  • Unsteady animation support.  Users can now define an iteration interval for capturing unsteady performance data.  The resulting output can be used to simplify the animation and analysis of time varying flow behavior.
  • New workbench charting capabilities.  A new charting capability has been introduced to streamline post-processing of simulation results.  Charts are now automatically generated from the simulation result files, allowing users to visually assess row performance data at the inlet and exit, spanwise performance and aerodynamic loading. Comparative charting is also supported to simplify comparisons between two or more runs or experimental data.
  • Advanced solver options.  3D single row and 3D multi-row cases can now use advanced solver options to change the back pressure and/or rotational speed of a case.  Also introduced in Release 4.5 is the ability to generate multiple cases from a single restart file and user definable range of back pressures or rotational speeds.  This feature simplifies the generation of compressor speedlines or other operating range studies by eliminating the need to generate each new case manually.
  • Additional workbench productivity enhancements.   Several additional workbench features are now available in Release 4.5, including an improved case overview page and batch execution and monitoring from directly within the workbench.

"Our quest remains to deliver world-class turbomachinery CFD that can be counted for design," said Bob Ni, Chairman and CTO of ADS. "Release 4.5 provides significant new capabilites to improve simulation fidelity while streamlining case creation, execution and post-processing."
